Mar 18, 2016 · I went through the steps given in the OP's link to the Sevenforums pages and ran the update for WUA to install the latest version which showed as 7.6.7601.19161 which, strangely, appears to be later than the stated version 7.6.7600.256.

The official party line on this one is that you should be running autoupdate by default, which means that when there’s a patch, update, or fix available from the Microsoft mothership for Windows 7 you’ll have it automatically show up and install.
